International gold prices rebounded on September 3, with spot gold in London rising back above $4,400 an ounce. As of 3:52 p.m. Beijing time, it was quoted at $4,426.96 an ounce, up 0.91%, after briefly falling below $4,300 intraday in the previous session before recovering, according to Jiemian News. The move came after the U.S. Federal Reserve's September 2 Beige Book said U.S. economic activity from early July to August 24 remained modest to moderate, but higher energy prices, policy changes and international conflicts added uncertainty. The report eased market concerns that the Fed would tighten policy further, while investors continued to watch U.S. jobs and inflation data for the next direction in gold prices.
