Leon Black Sues House Oversight Committee Over Epstein-Related Subpoenas

According to CNBC, former Apollo Global Management CEO Leon Black sued the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee on Thursday to block two subpoenas seeking nondisclosure agreements tied to its investigation of his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. Black was due to appear before the committee on Thursday morning but is refusing to do so, according to his lawyers, while Rep. Robert Garcia, the panel's ranking Democrat, said Black is defying two congressional subpoenas and noted that Black gave Epstein more than $180 million over six years. Black's attorneys said the NDAs sought by the committee have nothing to do with his dealings with Epstein, and the lawsuit argues the subpoenas are invalid because they exceed the committee's authority and would expose women who bargained for confidentiality.
