Brazil's Congress has passed a critical minerals bill that gives the government greater power to review mining transactions. According to Sina Finance, the legislation still needs President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva's signature. Despite industry warnings that the new rules could hurt foreign investment, the bill would create a special committee with the authority to approve changes in control of mining companies. The text approved by the Senate also says foreign takeovers that run counter to government strategic interests could be blocked.
