DWF Ventures Says Social Trading Platforms Face Flywheel Effects and Asymmetric Risk

DWF Ventures released a research report on social trading, saying competition is shifting toward network effects, trader relationships, and proprietary information layers as trading fees across platforms approach zero. According to Foresight News, the report said social trading platforms can create a flywheel effect in which traders build reputations through public calls, followers push prices higher, and the resulting moves appear to validate those calls, but this also creates asymmetric risk and crowd-driven volatility. The report cited data from DWF Ventures showing that among 292,000 wallets analyzed on the Fomo platform over the past 3 months, only 6.16% were profitable, and only 25 wallets generated net profits above $10,000. DWF Ventures said platforms that can retain users over the long term will be those that build social discovery through proprietary information layers rather than simply adding social features.
