According to CNBC, longtime Amazon Web Services executive Dave Brown is leaving after 19 years and is in talks to join Meta. Brown led AWS's compute and machine learning services division, which included Amazon's custom Trainium AI chips, and he previously said AI infrastructure winners will be those that improve price performance by delivering more computing power at lower cost through custom silicon. The report also said Anthropic is working on a deal to lease computing power from Meta that could be worth up to $10 billion over two years, while CNBC's Kate Rooney said the two companies were in very preliminary talks.
