Elon Musk: SpaceX Aims to Send First Cargo to the Moon and Mars by End-2026

Elon Musk said he wants to send tens of thousands of people to a lunar base over the next decade, and is targeting the first shipment of supplies to the Moon and Mars by the end of 2026, according to 36Kr. Musk said SpaceX expects to send astronauts to the Moon within the next two to three years, then scale up quickly to send humans to both the Moon and Mars within five years. He added that SpaceX aims to build a permanent, fully functional and self-sustaining city on the Moon within 10 years, and said sending people to Mars is significantly harder due to the longer journey, but the company plans to land humans on Mars within five years and potentially send thousands of people there within 10 to 12 years.
