STOCKS | Shanghai Composite Rises 0.76% at Midday as Innovative Drug Stocks Lead Gains

China’s A-share benchmarks were mixed in morning trading, with the Shanghai Composite Index up 0.76% by the midday close. According to Jin10, the Shenzhen Component Index rose 0.61%, while the ChiNext Index fell 0.65%. Innovative drug stocks strengthened, with Changshan Biochemical up 20%, and Zhongsheng Pharmaceutical, Joinn Laboratories, and Shuanglu Pharmaceutical hitting their daily limit-up levels. AI application shares were also active, with Fushi Holdings up 20% and Zhejiang Publishing & Media Interactive hitting limit-up. Other sectors posting gains included film and cinema, baijiu, precious metals, real estate services, and gaming. Decliners included semiconductors, energy metals, securities, industrial gases, silicon carbide, and lab-grown diamond themes. More than 4,400 stocks advanced across the market. Turnover for the morning session exceeded 2.18 trillion yuan.
