Alibaba FY2027 Q1 Preview Sees E-Commerce Profit Steady, Taobao Flash Sales Losses Narrowing

Alibaba’s FY2027 Q1 earnings preview shows its overall e-commerce business (China e-commerce plus AIDC) maintained steady profit and returned to growth, according to Jiemian News. The preview said Taobao Flash Sales’ losses narrowed faster than market expectations, with the gap in unit economics (UE) versus competitors shrinking, while market share remained stable during a reduction in subsidies. It added that Taobao Flash Sales has shifted its focus to higher-ticket catering and non-food orders, and its UE is expected to continue improving.
