Iran’s Ambassador to China Says Iran Plans to Charge Service Fees for Hormuz Strait Transit

Iran’s ambassador to China said Iran plans to charge service fees for navigation through the Strait of Hormuz in line with internationally accepted standards. According to Jin10, Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli said in a media interview in Beijing on July 4, during the 14th World Peace Forum, that Iran intends to levy the fees to cover routine costs such as ensuring navigation safety, providing navigation services, and environmental protection. Fazli said that before the outbreak of the U.S.-Israel-Iran war, transit through the Strait of Hormuz had remained unobstructed. He added that Iran has not said it would impose transit fees or tariffs, but instead plans to charge service fees based on international standards, which he said is consistent with practices in other waterways worldwide. On the current situation in the Strait of Hormuz, Fazli said navigation is gradually returning to normal and that the channel jointly managed by Iran and Oman is rebuilding order.
