AI TRENDS | South Korea Plans Over 312 Trillion Won in Corporate Investment for Advanced Manufacturing and AI

South Korea’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, Koo Yun-cheol, said on July 3 that the government will promote more than 312 trillion won in corporate investment in the country’s southeastern Yeongnam region to develop advanced manufacturing and AI industries. According to Odaily, SK Group, Samsung, Hanwha, and Hyundai Motor plan to invest about 140 trillion won, 60 trillion won, 55 trillion won, and 42 trillion won, respectively, with a focus on areas including semiconductors, AI, and aerospace. The plan also includes additional investment from LG and Doosan. Separately, South Korea announced a national aerospace strategy centered on Sacheon, aimed at building an aerospace industry belt along the southern coast.
