Investor Ashton Kutcher is leaving Sound Ventures, the venture capital firm he co-founded, and plans to start a new venture fund with former NFX partner Morgan Beller, TechCrunch reported.
According to ChainCatcher, the move is primarily driven by differences in preferred investment stages. Sound Ventures has focused on backing more mature, leading AI companies, including OpenAI and Anthropic.
Kutcher’s new fund is expected to shift toward earlier-stage investing, with a focus on foundational technology areas such as AI infrastructure, energy, and deep tech. The split was described as amicable, and Kutcher will continue to serve as an advisor to Sound Ventures.
