AI TRENDS | Samsung Electronics Outlines 2nm Process and AI Semiconductor Partnerships at SAFE Forum 2026

Samsung Electronics held its SAFE Forum 2026 in Seoul, where it presented its next-generation 2nm process, design-technology co-optimization (DTCO) methods, a high-performance SRAM roadmap, and its strategy for expanding cooperation in South Korea’s AI semiconductor ecosystem and advancing foundry technologies. According to Odaily, Samsung said it will use the SAFE Forum to strengthen communication with customers and partners, and to reinforce its platform role in South Korea’s system semiconductor industry beyond foundry manufacturing. South Korean AI fabless company Rebellions said it has developed the REBEL100 NPU based on Samsung’s 4nm foundry process and advanced packaging, and that the two sides will continue cooperating in the AI semiconductor field. Samsung also said it is participating in the M.AX alliance promoted by South Korea’s Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy to advance low-power, high-performance edge AI semiconductors for automobiles, home appliances, robotics, and defense. In addition, Samsung said it will continue supporting the MPW program aimed at reducing the initial sample production burden for South Korean fabless companies, as well as the K-CHIPS talent development program.
