Prosecutors said the probe involves allegations including organized sports corruption and money laundering; Wahi was released after an interview and has not been charged. The investigation followed reports of suspicious betting patterns around Wahi being booked in the 35th minute of the 0-0 draw, a caution that was his fifth of the season and ruled him out of Nice’s relegation play-off first leg against Saint-Etienne. The Ivorian Football Association said Thursday that Wahi was not allowed into Canada for Ivory Coast’s next match against Germany in Toronto; he started Ivory Coast’s 1-0 win over Ecuador on Sunday night and later traveled to the United States for the World Cup.
