AI TRENDS | OpenSea Introduces ERC-8257 for AI Agent Tool Registry

OpenSea has announced the launch of the Ethereum open standard ERC-8257, designed as a registry for AI agent tools. According to Foresight News, this standard allows developers to register tools on-chain, declare access rules and pricing, and enables AI agents to autonomously discover, purchase access, and utilize tools without human intervention. OpenSea stated that ERC-8257 integrates with other protocols such as ERC-8004 (agent identity), MCP (tool discovery), and x402 (payment protocol) to form the foundational infrastructure for AI agent operations on-chain. Currently, ERC-8257 is in the draft stage, and OpenSea is inviting developers to contribute to refining the specification.
