China Comments on Potential U.S.-Iran Agreement to Halt Middle East Conflict

On May 25, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning held a regular press conference. According to Odaily, Agence France-Presse inquired about the potential agreement between the United States and Iran to cease hostilities in the Middle East. The question posed was whether China played a diplomatic role in this process and what expectations China has for the outcome of this agreement. Mao Ning stated that China's position on the Iranian situation is very clear. She emphasized that this is a war that should not have occurred and has no necessity to continue. Finding a resolution sooner would benefit both the U.S. and Iran, as well as the countries in the region and the entire world.
