The diesel version is positioned for long-distance efficiency rather than maximum towing power. The Silverado diesel can tow up to 12,000 pounds, while the Sierra diesel can tow about 12,100 pounds. Both are below the peak figures for models equipped with the 5.7-liter V8 engine. The new Silverado and Sierra will keep four engine options in total. The entry-level 2.7-liter TurboMax turbocharged four-cylinder rises to 350 horsepower and 455 pound-feet, the new 5.7-liter V8 delivers 402 horsepower and 428 pound-feet, and the 6.6-liter V8 reaches 481 horsepower and 501 pound-feet. All four engines are paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
