Bipartisan Group Proposes $32 Billion AI Development Plan

According to Odaily, a bipartisan group led by Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has proposed that the US Congress spend at least $32 billion on the development of artificial intelligence (AI) and the establishment of protective measures over the next three years. This roadmap is another effort by the US government to regulate and promote the development of AI. Six days ago, US lawmakers unveiled a bipartisan bill to help the Biden administration implement export controls on top AI models manufactured in the US. After several months of meetings with industry experts and AI critics, the bipartisan working group recognized the importance of AI investment in maintaining competitiveness with foreign competitors and improving the quality of life for Americans. This includes support for technology that could potentially help cure certain cancers or chronic diseases. Although the roadmap does not constitute a specific bill or policy proposal, it provides a glimpse into the scope and scale of future AI legislation for lawmakers and relevant parties, laying the foundation for more comprehensive and detailed policies in the future.
