An account bought $600,000 worth of Polymarket shares betting that Democrats will not control both chambers of Congress after the 2026 U.S. midterm elections. According to Odaily, the wallet had accumulated losses of $82,500 and bought 2,450,422.3 shares at an average price of 27.8 cents.
The election is scheduled for November 3, 2026, and the market will be settled based on which party controls the Senate and House afterward. A party generally controls a chamber by holding a majority of voting seats. If no party wins a Senate majority, control goes to the party holding half the seats and the vice presidency; if that does not settle the outcome, it goes to the party of the newly elected president pro tempore of the Senate. If no party wins a House majority, control goes to the party of the first newly elected House speaker.
