Seres and Huawei to Shift Aito Cooperation Toward Seres-Led Operations

Seres and Huawei will adjust their Aito smart-car partnership this week, with product, marketing, sales and service shifting from Huawei-led to Seres-led operations while Huawei provides support, according to Jiemian News. The report said Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance will direct more resources to Luxeed, Stelato, Maextro and Shangjie. The change would give Seres more control over Aito pricing, technology procurement and service spending. Jiemian News said Seres has already been preparing for a more flexible, asset-light model through new projects such as AIVA, where Seres subsidiary Saidu Technology has worked with Volcano Engine on large-model and smart-cockpit technology. Seres reported revenue of 57.493 billion yuan in the first half of 2026, with a net loss attributable to shareholders of 1.717 billion yuan. Sales expenses were 8.471 billion yuan and R&D spending was 3.734 billion yuan. The company said impairment charges reduced net profit attributable to shareholders by about 1.751 billion yuan, as revenue from existing models fell short of expectations amid technology upgrades. Jiemian News said Seres has been paying both for Huawei's technology and services and for its own R&D and distribution network. Under the new arrangement, Seres may buy more functions on demand, including intelligent driving, smart-cockpit systems and sales services, while keeping more of the related decision-making in-house.
