According to Axios, Rep. Al Green (D-Texas) said he will force a House impeachment vote against President Trump during the legislative business of Sept. 14-17, prompting sharp criticism from fellow House Democrats who called the move a distraction ahead of the chamber's final week in session before midterm Election Day. Green said the vote would be based on the killings of Renée Good, Alex Pretti, Lorenzo Salgado Araujo and Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero by federal immigration officers. He has tried to impeach Trump multiple times before, including in 2017, 2018 and twice last year, but those efforts were blocked in bipartisan procedural votes. Some Democrats said they may vote for the measure anyway if Green forces it, while Rep. Shri Thanedar (D-Mich.) said he would support it. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) has said Democrats have not ruled impeachment in or out.
