Chuck E. Cheese parent CEC Entertainment has stopped renewing leases at some stores that no longer make economic sense to operate. According to Sina Finance, the pizza-and-arcade chain has closed six locations so far in 2026.
The Toledo, Ohio, store at the Swan Creek Shopping Center closed at the end of August when its lease expired. The company did not explain why it chose not to renew the lease or issue a public statement about the closure.
CEC Entertainment also closed Nebraska's last Chuck E. Cheese location in Omaha on July 2, and shut its Topeka, Kansas, store on April 5. Local media reported that the company closed three stores on April 4, including a location in Olathe, Kansas.
A CEC Entertainment spokesperson said the company is adjusting its real estate strategy as leases expire, markets change, and consumer preferences shift. The company said it still operates more than 500 stores across 45 U.S. states.
