Jefferies analyst Edison Lee warned that Apple's iPhone Duo may face demand pressure because its size may not suit consumers. According to Sina Finance, Lee said one-handed use and screen control become much harder, especially for users with smaller hands.
He also said Apple's supply-chain research suggests the company will launch a regular-sized second-generation foldable next year at a likely higher price, making iPhone Duo a transition model that could prompt some consumers to wait.
Apple CEO John Ternus officially introduced the iPhone Duo at the company's annual launch event at Apple headquarters. The foldable phone uses a book-style design, with a 5.4-inch outer screen when closed and a 7.6-inch inner screen when fully opened.
The starting price is $1,999, in line with pre-event market rumors, while the top-end version costs $3,199.
AT&T CEO John Stankey said on Yahoo Finance at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology Conference that Apple's foldable phone did not bring disruptive innovation. He also said Android users are highly loyal to their own system and that foldables remain a niche category in the U.S. market.
