Trump Administration Plans $500 Obamacare Rebate Checks For Up To 1 Million People

According to Axios, the Trump administration plans to send $500 rebate checks to as many as 1 million people who it says were overcharged for Obamacare coverage, with direct-deposit payments set to go to recipients in 30 states before the Nov. 3 midterm election. The money would come from a $500 million fund of excess fees paid by Affordable Care Act enrollees who were overcharged by insurers during the Biden administration, officials said, and Trump plans to mention the rebates in his speech Wednesday night at the Republicans' midterm convention in Dallas. Officials said the refunds are available to Obamacare enrollees who do not receive premium assistance, and Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Florida, Delaware, New Hampshire, Texas, Wisconsin, South Carolina, Michigan, Ohio, Mississippi and Missouri were specifically cited as states with relatively large numbers of eligible recipients.
