STOCKS | China Pork Prices Rise for Fourth Straight Week as Demand Improves

According to Jin10, pork prices in China have risen for four consecutive weeks, with demand growth driving a mild rebound in prices. On September 8, the average wholesale price of white-cut pork at Beijing Xinfadi Market was 14 yuan per kilogram, up 12% from August 1. Beijing Xinfadi Market analyst Liu Tong said the rebound has been relatively mild and that later gains in pork prices are unlikely to be large because live hog inventories remain relatively ample. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs said that in the first week of September, the national live hog price was 11.59 yuan per kilogram, up 0.3% from the previous week, while pork prices were 21.23 yuan per kilogram, up 0.2%, with both prices rising for four straight weeks.
