Kyiv Faces Record Daily Air Raid Alerts As Russia Shifts Tactics

According to the BBC, Kyiv is enduring more daily air raid alerts than at any time since Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022, with government figures showing the capital has faced an average of 10 alerts a day since the end of August. The report said Russia has shifted from mostly night strikes to daytime attacks, disrupting schools, businesses and public transport, while Ukraine's government is planning a two-tier warning system to let people keep working, traveling and studying depending on the threat level. Ukraine's air force said Russia launched 2,800 fast drones in August, almost twice as many as in July, and officials said only about 60% of the drones were being shot down. President Volodymyr Zelensky held an emergency meeting with ministers and commanders to discuss producing new high-speed missiles to intercept the faster drones, while analysts said Russia's aim is also to damage Ukraine's economy by targeting businesses and warehouses.
