Odesa To Vote On Ban On Russian-Language Arts Content

The plan has drawn strong reactions in Odesa, where Russian is widely spoken, even though Ukrainian remains the only state language. Supporters say Russian-language content is used to weaken Ukrainian identity, while critics argue the move would pressure Russian-speakers and limit freedom of speech. The proposal is similar to measures already in force in Kyiv and some other cities, and its backers say it could influence private businesses even without formal penalties.
