According to Axios, OpenAI is launching a new initiative to give subsidized access to its models to water systems, electricity providers, local governments and other critical services. OpenAI president Greg Brockman announced the program Thursday while hosting 300 security leaders at the company's headquarters, and the company said it is committing $1 billion to the Daybreak for Frontline Defenders initiative. The funding will come through expanded subsidized access to models, training, technical support and partnerships for participating organizations. OpenAI is also starting Daybreak for America, which will provide access to its models for local governments, water systems, electricity providers, regional banks and other critical infrastructure, and it is launching a pilot with the Multi-State Information Sharing and Analysis Center to train cyber defenders at state and local governments. OpenAI said it is also working with more than 35 technology and cybersecurity services to embed its models into their tools, services and workflows.
