U.S. NATO Envoy Matthew Whitaker Says Europe Ranks Fourth in U.S. Security Priorities

According to Wallstreetcn, U.S. Permanent Representative to NATO Matthew Whitaker said in an August 27 interview with U.S. Daguang News Network that Europe ranks fourth in U.S. global security priorities, behind the U.S. mainland, the Western Hemisphere, and the Pacific and the so-called "first island chain." Whitaker said U.S. President Donald Trump is pushing NATO onto a "new development path," and that the United States is pressuring other NATO members to sharply increase defense spending and take on conventional defense responsibilities.
