Tether said its gold-backed digital asset XAU₮ has received Shariah compliance certification from Amanah Advisors, led by Mufti Faraz Adam. According to Odaily, the certification confirms that XAU₮ meets core principles of Islamic finance.
XAU₮ is issued by TG Commodities, S.A. de C.V., and each full token represents direct ownership of physical gold stored in Swiss vaults. The certification requirements include real ownership of physical gold, clearly verifiable asset backing, no interest, no leverage or speculative derivatives, and transparent reserve structures.
Tether said XAU₮ can be used for Islamic banks integrating digital gold products, takaful and halal savings products, long-term wealth preservation strategies, tokenized trade finance, and collateral applications. Amanah Advisors will continue working with Tether on practical guidelines and a governance framework to support Shariah-compliant adoption of XAU₮.
