According to Jiemian News, China’s top 10 sedan makers sold 2.942 million vehicles in the first half of 2026, accounting for 67% of total sedan sales. Among those 10 companies, SAIC Motor and Tesla posted year-on-year growth, while the others all recorded declines.
China Automobile Dealers Association said used-car transactions in China totaled 1.6184 million in June 2026, down 2.36% year on year but up 1.05% from May, with transaction value of 107.158 billion yuan. For January-June, China’s used-car market handled 9.7132 million transactions, up 1.50% from a year earlier, with cumulative transaction value of 638.53 billion yuan.
Honda China said Honda and GAC formally signed a strategic renewal agreement in July for their GAC Honda joint venture, extending the partnership through 2038 while keeping the equity split unchanged. SAIC Motor said its controlling shareholder, SAIC Group, has committed not to reduce its holdings in any way for six months from July 20, 2026, including any new shares obtained through capital reserve conversions or stock dividends.
Seres said it had bought back 8.9755 million shares as of July 20, using 587 million yuan, equal to 0.52% of its total share capital. The company approved a share repurchase plan in March and April 2026 with a budget of 1 billion yuan to 2 billion yuan and a term of up to 12 months. Jiemian News also reported that Nio’s firefly brand launched its first model in the halo sub-series, called Qixi Habitat, with a starting price of 133,300 yuan.
XPENG’s XPENG trademark was recently recognized as a well-known mark by Indonesia’s Supreme Court, according to People’s Finance News. The court upheld a final ruling in April that revoked a squatted XPENG trademark, citing the brand’s registrations in multiple markets, promotion, public awareness and prior enforcement actions. Huawei said its ultra-fast charging map is now available on SAIC Volkswagen, with 574 city charging stations and 127 highway charging stations in the first batch, plus more than 10,000 Huawei ultra-fast charging guns.
Ford Motor said its Canadian unit and hourly workers represented by Unifor approved a new three-year collective agreement, under which Ford will invest 1.25 billion Canadian dollars in its Canadian manufacturing business during the contract period. The company said 700 million Canadian dollars will go to the Essex engine plant to expand 5.0-liter engine capacity, including a possible third shift, and support 7.3-liter engine expansion, while 550 million Canadian dollars will go to the Oakville assembly center as previously planned. Stellantis said it appointed Matt VanDyke as CEO of Ram effective July 20 and Branden Coté as CEO of Jeep effective August 3, while Bob Broderdorf will take leave for personal medical treatment before returning to a new leadership role within the group.
