India is investigating a data breach at Tata Electronics that led to the leak of documents related to Apple’s unreleased iPhone 18 Pro.
According to Jin10, India’s Minister of Electronics and Information Technology Krishnan said on Thursday that the government is probing the incident, marking its first public comment on the case.
Reports said a ransomware group stole data from Tata Electronics, described as Apple’s supplier in India, and then posted files on the dark web. The leaked materials reportedly included sensitive lists of parts and suppliers, as well as photos of the iPhone 18 Pro model.
Krishnan said the incident has been reported to the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT), which he described as the main agency responsible for computer security issues.
The report said the breach also affected companies including Tesla and Qualcomm, and that the Tata Group has hired global advisers to conduct a forensic audit.
