According to Lianhe Zaobao citing Xinhua, a fire at a hospital in Ludwigslust in northern Germany killed two people and injured more than 30, German media reported. Police said the fire broke out at 4:28 a.m. local time on Thursday, July 2, and preliminary findings indicate it started in a patient room; firefighters have extinguished the blaze. Germany’s dpa reported local officials said both victims were patients and the injuries were not serious, while NDR reported the fire spread to the roof of the radiology department. A regional authority spokesperson said the fire began in a vascular surgery room, and many patients and staff were evacuated from the 160-bed hospital; the cause remains unclear.
