Cloudflare CEO Matthew Prince announced that Cloudflare Radar's real-time monitoring over the past seven days indicates that bot traffic now accounts for 57.5% of global HTTP requests for HTML content, surpassing human traffic at 42.5% for the first time. According to Odaily, this shift occurred over a year earlier than industry predictions.
Following the data release, some users questioned the ability to distinguish between requests from bots and those initiated by humans behind the bots. Additionally, it was noted that not all bot traffic originates from intelligent agents; some may come from crawlers or scripts. The data specifically pertains to HTML webpage requests, and when considering total internet bandwidth, including video streaming, social media scrolling, and in-app APIs, human traffic still dominates at approximately 65%.
