Verus has announced via social media that its network has halted block production following a recent attack. According to Foresight News, most block-generating nodes have automatically gone offline as designed. The company stated that if the attacker returns the stolen funds in full, a bug bounty will be paid, and no legal action will be pursued. Otherwise, Verus will cooperate with relevant authorities to take legal action. Users are also warned against scammers claiming to offer compensation through private messages.
Earlier reports from Foresight News, citing Blockaid monitoring, revealed that Verus's Ethereum cross-chain bridge was attacked, resulting in the theft of approximately $11.58 million.
