Venezuela's interim president, Rodriguez, has emphasized the importance of diplomatic dialogue with the United States as a means to resolve differences between the two nations. According to RTHK, Rodriguez expressed this sentiment in a letter to U.S. President Donald Trump, shared on social media on Saturday. He reiterated Venezuela's willingness to establish long-term relations with Washington based on mutual respect, equality, and international law, aiming to foster a cooperative agenda that benefits both countries.
Venezuela severed diplomatic ties with the United States in January 2019. Earlier this year, in January, the U.S. military conducted operations in Venezuela, forcibly taking control of President Maduro, which led to significant changes in the country, including Rodriguez assuming the role of interim president. These developments have contributed to improved relations between the two countries, culminating in the recent announcement of restored diplomatic relations.
