Apple said software support for iPhone Duo is improving quickly, with more than 100,000 apps built specifically for the device now available in the App Store and thousands of newly adapted apps added daily. According to Sina Finance, more than a dozen major apps have updated for iPhone Duo, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Zoom, NBA and NHL sports apps, Etsy, LTK, Goodnotes, Extra and Halide Mark III; Netflix, YouTube, Instagram and WhatsApp were already compatible. Apps that have not been adapted display black bars along the sides of the screen, reducing usable display space, and may place some features in a “More” menu. Apple said more than 2,000 developers took part in over 50 in-person workshops across 19 cities, where they could try iPhone Duo and receive technical support to adapt their apps. The 256GB iPhone Duo starts at $1,999, and demand has exceeded Apple’s expectations. The device sold out within hours of presale opening, and delivery estimates now extend into next year. During this week’s earnings call, Apple said it could not yet estimate when supply constraints would ease. Susan Prescott, Apple’s vice president of worldwide developer relations, said the company was pleased to see developers embrace iPhone Duo so quickly and thanked them for their creativity and innovation. She said the response had exceeded expectations and that Apple looked forward to faster updates as more apps are adapted.
