According to official news, THORChain V3 has been released, and this version introduces the following new features:
-Upgrade to Cosmos SDK v0.50
This update aligns THORChain with the latest progress in the Cosmos ecosystem. The increase in smart contract functionality, including support for CosmWasm modules, enables developers to deploy smart contracts directly to THORChain. This allows innovation in smart contracts while isolating risks. This shift also paves the way for inter-blockchain communication (IBC) protocol compatibility, enabling THORChain to monitor IBC-enabled chains from Bifrost, thereby reducing the cost of adding.
-Switch from Tendermint to CometBFT
As part of the Cosmos SDK v0.50 update, THORChain has transitioned its consensus layer from Tendermint to CometBFT. This upgrade enhances the consensus mechanism with better performance, security, and scalability.
-Cosmos Ecosystem Compatibility
The addition of Cosmos’ default MsgSend feature ensures that THORChain can more easily integrate with the wider Cosmos ecosystem.
-Rujira Application Layer
The Rujira application layer is a key feature of THORChain v3, resulting from the merger of DeFi projects (Kujira, Levana, Fuzion, Unstake, and Wink) into the Rujira Alliance. This collaboration unifies decentralized DeFi tools into a seamless experience, enabling developers to build DApps directly on THORChain’s liquidity pool. The Rujira application layer will share 50% of the generation fees with THORChain, supplementing THORChain’s total revenue. In addition, since the Rujira layer will use the base layer pool, it will increase THORChain’s base pool redemption volume.
