A research note from CITIC Securities said Meta has announced the sale of part of its excess computing capacity, and the market’s initial reaction was negative on concerns it could signal peaking AI compute demand or a downturn in the sector, according to Jiemian News. The note said the medium- to long-term drivers of AI compute demand remain intact and that key bottlenecks still constrain the release of effective supply. It added that Meta’s case should not be overinterpreted as an inflection-point signal, and that with earnings season approaching, investors should focus on more representative indicators such as order guidance from core suppliers including Nvidia, cloud providers’ capital expenditure plans, and commercialization progress in downstream applications.
