Coney Island Boardwalk Planned for $1 Billion Upgrade, Alliance Director Says

Coney Island is planning a $1 billion investment to rebuild its boardwalk and support local businesses, according to Bloomberg. Daniel Murphy, executive director of the Alliance for Coney Island, said the area is entering a new phase of growth with a permanent business improvement district, with upgrades aimed at strengthening Coney Island as a year-round community while preserving its identity as “the people’s playground.”
