Sergei Novikov, Chief Product Officer at 8Blocks, said 95% of all crypto tokens ever launched were not needed and were often created out of convention rather than product necessity. In an interview, according to BeInCrypto, Novikov said Web3 product growth rarely translates automatically into token gains unless the token captures value from product activity, a concept 8Blocks measures as “token product linkage.” He also flagged investor red flags including weak utility limited to a white paper, high FDV with low circulating float, large unlocks without future demand, and products that work without their own token. Novikov said tokenomics audits should become as standard as smart contract security reviews.
