NYDIG Warns of Potential Decline in U.S. Crypto Bill Progress

NYDIG, a digital asset investment firm, has issued a warning regarding the U.S. Market Structure Bill for cryptocurrencies. According to ChainCatcher, NYDIG highlighted that if the bill does not make significant progress before Congress's August recess, its chances of passing may significantly decrease. The firm noted that the current bipartisan consensus on a crypto regulatory framework might be a fleeting opportunity. If the bill is not advanced in the coming months, Congress's focus may shift to midterm elections, fiscal budgets, and partisan political issues once it reconvenes, potentially lowering the priority of crypto legislation. The bill is considered one of the most significant attempts to establish a regulatory framework for cryptocurrencies in the U.S. It aims to clarify digital asset classifications, delineate the regulatory boundaries between the SEC and CFTC, and establish uniform operational standards for exchanges and crypto businesses. However, significant disagreements remain on key issues such as stablecoin regulation, DeFi oversight, consumer protection, and political conflicts of interest, leading to slow negotiation progress. NYDIG emphasized that prolonged regulatory uncertainty is driving capital, talent, and innovation to regions with clearer regulations, such as the UAE, Singapore, and the EU.
