SCVentures, the venture capital arm of Standard Chartered Bank, has invested in crypto trading and market-making company GSR, valuing the company at over $1 billion in this round of financing. Founded in 2013 by a former Goldman Sachs trader, GSR is currently in talks with strategic investors for further funding, potentially reaching $150 million, to expand its operations. This investment marks SCVentures' first external shareholder in GSR, and the two companies plan to collaborate to promote the integration of traditional finance and the crypto market, and to expand the accessibility of tokenized products. GSR's business encompasses crypto trading, market making, consulting, asset management, and venture capital. (Bloomberg)
