Potential Impact of US Clarity Act on Bitcoin's Price Examined

Despite indications that the legislation could pass Congress as early as January, Brandt believes it will not significantly affect Bitcoin's value. He stated, "Is it a world-shaking macro development? Nope. Needed for sure, but not something that should redefine value." Brandt emphasized that regulation of an asset, particularly one that die-hard investors have traditionally resisted regulating, is not an earth-shattering event. Brandt's comments followed remarks from White House crypto and AI czar David Sacks, who noted, "We are closer than ever to passing the landmark crypto market structure legislation." Sacks expressed optimism about completing the legislative process by January. Some industry observers suggest that the Clarity Act has already been factored into current market prices. While Brandt does not foresee the Clarity Act as a catalyst to propel Bitcoin back to its all-time high of $125,100, he acknowledged that the legislation would be a significant advancement for the broader crypto industry. "The Clarity Act would be positive because it would greatly clarify the regulatory structure for crypto assets," Brandt said. Echoing Brandt's sentiment, Ledn’s chief investment officer, John Glover, told Cointelegraph that the potential passing of the Clarity Act has already "been priced into the market." Glover does not anticipate a significant immediate impact on market prices, suggesting that any benefits to price action may be delayed. He remarked, "It is another step toward broad-based acceptance of Bitcoin and ETH as investable assets, so over time I still expect the price trajectory to be up and to the right over time." Brandt also noted that Bitcoin is currently in a bear market but suggested that the Clarity Act could moderate his "downside bias." Brandt predicts that Bitcoin could fall to $60,000 in 2026, representing a 31% drop from its current price of $88,000, as reported by CoinMarketCap. The Clarity Act has been a focal point for both the crypto industry and pro-crypto lawmakers. On December 9, Wyoming Senator Cynthia Lummis, a member of the US Senate Banking Committee and a prominent advocate for addressing digital asset market structure, expressed her intention to advance the bill in the coming days. Lummis noted that the crypto industry "was getting a little concerned" about the bill's progress, citing frequent changes to drafts during bipartisan discussions.
