Solana's Strategic Expansion in Blockchain and Digital Assets

According to BlockBeats, Solana Foundation Chair Lily Liu highlighted the platform's pioneering role in establishing a policy research institute during the Solana Breakpoint 2025 conference. Liu emphasized the necessity for institutions to develop digital asset strategies, noting that many are choosing Solana as they enter the blockchain space. Western Union, handling over $60 billion in remittances annually, and Pfizer, managing $2 trillion in merchant payments each year, have both opted for Solana. Liu also discussed the significance of Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) this year, particularly the launch of physically-backed Solana staking ETFs. These ETFs have rapidly gained traction within the Solana ecosystem, reaching nearly $1 billion in assets under management within six weeks. Despite a generally poor market performance, there has been a consistent net inflow of funds for three consecutive weeks, with six physically-backed Solana staking ETFs listed in the U.S. market. Another key topic this year is the role of Digital Asset Treasury (DAT) companies, which Liu acknowledged as somewhat controversial. While many view DATs as short-term liquidity tools, Liu argued that Solana's unique capability allows enterprises to build on both the infrastructure and asset layers. She believes DATs will evolve into long-term ecosystem companies, serving as bridges between Solana and public markets, integrating infrastructure and asset management systems.
