Moscow Exchange Reports Record Cryptocurrency Futures Trading Volume

According to PANews, the Moscow Exchange (MOEX), Russia's largest securities market, announced that its cryptocurrency futures trading volume reached a record high of 48.7 billion rubles (approximately $636 million) in November. The exchange attributed this surge to the high volatility in the crypto market, which has piqued the interest of qualified Russian investors. MOEX also reported that by the end of last month, the total trading volume of its derivatives market reached 11.7 trillion rubles, marking a 15.8% increase compared to November 2024. The open interest in its exchange-traded derivatives market exceeded 2.7 trillion rubles, showing a 22.7% growth from the same period last year. Over 135,000 clients are engaged in trading futures and options on the exchange, with individual investors accounting for nearly 55% of the total trading volume in exchange-traded derivatives.
