According to CNBC, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Friday rejected the Trump administration’s request to temporarily bar California from counting mail ballots for the November 3 midterm elections cast by more than 20,000 registered voters it alleges are likely noncitizens. The 2-1 decision was the second time this week the court denied an emergency request in the case. The judges cited a lower court’s finding that the administration’s list may not be fully reliable and said granting the request could disenfranchise voters. The Justice Department filed the lawsuit on October 15. A federal judge denied its request for a temporary restraining order on October 28.
