SemiAnalysis expects revenue to exceed $100 million this year and has about 100 employees. According to ChainCatcher, the semiconductor and AI infrastructure research firm was founded by Dylan Patel in 2020 as a WordPress blog and reached seven-figure revenue in 2023.
Subscription income accounts for less than 5% of total revenue, with most of the business coming from data models, its Core Research institutional research product, and consulting. The company now has 12 models covering networking, fab equipment, foundry, energy, and other areas, supported by about 50 analysts.
Its clients include most major global technology companies, and its readers reportedly include Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, AMD CEO Lisa Su, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. SemiAnalysis said its CoWoS and HBM supply chain model had predicted Nvidia would ship 400,000 H100 chips per quarter, and OpenAI used its InferenceX as a third-party benchmark when unveiling its in-house chip Jalapeño at Hot Chips.
Patel recently raised $500 million for SemiAnalysis Capital Fund I to invest in early-stage startups. The company also plans to expand into the energy sector, with analysts expected to work directly with grid and utility-related counterparties.
