The Zcash community voted by 98.9% to keep its Bitcoin-style halving mechanism, with 2.4 million ZEC used in the vote, representing 66% of eligible tokens. According to Odaily, the community also chose to shorten block time to 25 seconds, immediately retire the Sprout funding pool, and limit the NU7 upgrade to features that can be completed before September 30.
ZEC briefly reached $1,388 and rose 10.9% on the day, lifting its market value to $22.9 billion and ranking it ninth among crypto assets. Zcash's Ironwood upgrade launched in July and added quantum-resistant transaction records, while the token has gained more than 2,500% over the past year.
