According to Sina Finance, South Korea's finance and economy minister nominee Lee Hyeong-il said at a parliamentary confirmation hearing that he would prioritize price stability and stronger economic recovery, while seeking new growth engines and measures to bolster the country's ability to respond to global risks. He also said that, with consumption and employment improving, 3% economic growth this year is within reach, and that per capita national income is expected to exceed $40,000. Lee said the government will closely monitor risks including conditions in the chip industry, global interest-rate changes, and capital flows to prevent excessive market volatility. He added that South Korea will use its inclusion in the World Government Bond Index as a basis to seek entry into the MSCI developed market index and promote the internationalization of the won.
