India has launched an online platform to help its exporters connect with U.S. buyers and push bilateral trade toward $500 billion by the end of this decade. According to Sina Finance, India and the United States are still negotiating a trade agreement and finalized the broad framework earlier this year.
U.S. President Donald Trump has imposed punitive tariffs, while New Delhi is also seeking to diversify overseas markets. According to Sina Finance, U.S. demand remains central for Indian exporters, and the United States has accounted for about 20% of India's total exports over the past 12 months through July.
India's Consul General in New York, Binaya S. Pradhan, said goods and services exporters can use the trade portal to connect with U.S. buyers, including major retailers such as Amazon, Walmart, and Costco. He said the platform is aimed at Indian small and medium-sized enterprises and first-time exporters.
According to Sina Finance, India's Ministry of Commerce said total U.S.-India goods and services trade was nearly $141 billion in the fiscal year through March. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Trump set a goal last year to more than double bilateral trade to $500 billion by 2030.
After Trump returned to the White House, Modi was among the first foreign leaders to meet him, and both leaders have repeatedly emphasized their personal rapport. According to Sina Finance, ties have still faced friction over tariffs, India's purchases of Russian oil, and Trump's claim that he helped bring peace between India and Pakistan.
